Peruvian American Dental Association
Chijnaya's stalwart partner in our oral health campaign has been the Peruvian American Dental Association(PADA). PADA is a 501 (c)(3) organization founded in 2006 and composed of volunteer Peruvian American dentists and other health professionals. PADA’s mission is to promote oral health among Latinos and minority communities through the implementation in education, prevention and treatment of oral problems. This mission is carried out through multi-day dental campaigns offered in regions of Peru where no dental services are available. PADA seeks to develop programs that are sustainable by working closely with local Peruvian partners, such as Schools of Dentistry and non-profit organizations, such as the Chijnaya Foundation, with ongoing presence in underserved areas.
In 2010, PADA and the Chijnaya Foundation collaborated in offering a five-day clinic, with oral health education and treatment components, in the community of Chijnaya. PADA is committed to continued collaboration with the Chijnaya Foundation and other Puno area partners to make the oral health program sustainable and increasingly accessible to communities beyond Chijnaya. At the same time, PADA continues its ongoing work in other regions of Peru, namely, Ayacucho, Cuzco, and Huancavelica.
