In Loving Memory of Averill Strasser
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of our dear friend,  Averill Strasser.
He was an early supporter of water-related projects of The Chijnaya Foundation in Peruvian communities. His leadership in tackling quality water scarcities around the world stands as testimony to a life well-lived, in service to others.
To honor his legacy we have documented the ways Water Charity has impacted our foundation during the last several years.

Additionally, our team has several warm memories and thoughts to share.

It is with deep regret that I am unable to attend this important event celebrating Averill’s life. I am out of the country with no possibility to return to attend. Averill was an impressive individual, a true Renaissance man. My contact with him was via Water Charity. He was an early supporter of water-related projects of The Chijnaya Foundation in Peruvian communities. His leadership in tackling quality water scarcities around the world stands as testimony to a life well-lived, in service to others. He was a true humanitarian, and one who took a no-nonsense approach to engaging in projects that would benefit so many people in regions where water deficiencies cause so much suffering.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Averill through his philanthropic work. Water Charity supported 10 water infrastructure projects in the Altiplano of Peru through the Chijnaya Foundation and I worked with the communities to design and implement their projects under this grant.  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to see first hand how Averill’s support of these community-driven projects improved people’s lives. We were able to bring running water to rural households, help farmers grow crops during the dry season with irrigation systems, and build bathrooms with solar thermal water heaters. These projects not only helped improve community health, but also helped provide more income to farmers and supported rural tourism associations as they worked to improve accommodations and tourism in their communities. I am grateful to have seen how Averill’s kindness and hard work through Water Charity made a positive difference in the world.
