How did the CARES Act Change Charitable Contribution Deductions?
- Individual taxpayers who take the standard deduction can now take up to a $300 deduction from charitable donations in 2020.
- Deduction of charitable contributions was previously capped at 60% of a donor’s adjusted gross income. For 2020, donors can deduct up to 100% of their adjusted gross income.
- For corporations, the deductibility limit for charity contributions was raised from 10% to 25% of corporate taxable income.
