After six years as President and Chair of the Board, I am delighted to announce
that as of May 1, 2026, Liz Klarich and Kathy Oths will become the new Co-
Presidents of the Chijnaya Foundation. They bring a wealth of experience and
expertise to our efforts in the altiplano and a deep commitment to the communities
of the Andes. Both Liz and Kathy have been on the Board for the past 9 years and
have served on the Executive Committee for the past six: Kathy as vice-president
and chair of the scholarship committee and Liz as Secretary and on the
Finance/Endowment and Board Development task forces. Both have made
significant contributions to our efforts and been invaluable counselors and
supporters. I could not be more pleased to see the Foundation under their
leadership.
Thanks to the loyal support of our many donors, the Foundation is well poised to
flourish as we enter our third decade. We have a solid financial basis thanks to
annual and sustained giving. The establishment of several endowed funds will help
us weather the vagaries of economic swings. In Peru, the Pro-DIA staff and Board
have grown and been strengthen by excellent leadership and the number of
communities in the Pro-DIA network continues to expand.
Finally, the Foundation will be further strengthened when we welcome several new
members to the Chijnaya Board later this spring. Their skills, perspectives and
energy, combined with the loyal support of our donors, will allow us to continue
our work in the altiplano.
Brief descriptions of both Liz and Kathy can be found on their respective websites. Please join me in welcoming our new leadership team.
