Acquisition of Milking Machines for the Community of Jallahua

Milking Machine Project Jallahua

The community of Jallahua (Puno) that belongs to the Pro-DIA Network has been working with us since 2014 on rural development projects through the Rotating Fund Program, which have been managed by its Board of Directors and other beneficiaries.

In the month of July, after already fulfilling the recovery and payment of the rotating funds from 2021, the funds were reinvested again through the acquisition of milking machines. This technology is expected to optimize the amount of time required for milking and help farmers obtain greater profitability and improvement of their production of milk, which will have a positive impact on their economic income. These milking machines will be providing the service to all the associated families of the community.

Festivities in Honor of the Santisima Virgin del Carmen

Feria Virgen del Carmen

As every year and during the second half of July, the festivities began in the district of Pucara in honor of the Virgin del Carmen, with the Apaza Huaraya family assuming the responsibility as sponsors for the 2022 activities that included the entrance of candles, the central mass in the Santa Isabel de Pucara Temple, the burning of castles, among others.

It should be noted that religious and economic activities converge during the festivities, since a well-known trade fair takes place and merchants from the department of Puno and other places nationwide travel to Pucara to set up their shops. Their stalls are concentrated on the main streets surrounding the Plaza de Armas and are organizaed by economic activities such as a craft section, a food section, a hardware section, an herb section, among others.

This fair has its origins in colonial times, at the time it was known internationally since it had merchants who came from other South American countries such as Chile, Bolivia, etc. Although with the passage of time its popularity has begun to diminish, it continues to be a reference as one of the most important fairs in the department of Puno.

Inhabitants of the different districts of Puno and communities near Pucara await these dates to visit the trade fair since they can count on a wide variety of product offers from different areas such as basic necessities, work tools, construction materials, among others, for which the commercial exchange is quite active, even carrying out trueque (bartering).

Unlike the previous two years when, due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, there were a series of restrictions that reduced the influx of visitors, in 2022 there was a greater number of attendees, so the traditional fair Virgin del Carmen was a complete success.

Adquisición de Maquinas Ordeñadoras para la Comunidad Campesina de Jallahua

Milking Machine Project Jallahua
