Testimony from the Group Savings Program- Asociación Pro DIA
The health crisis caused by COVID-19 has no doubt further exacerbated social, economic, and educational challenges, among others, worldwide. In the local rural environment, in which productive activities related to agriculture, livestock, crafts, etc. prevail, many families have faced a decrease in their income. Faced with this emergency, the Savings Program of the Pro DIA Association has gained prominence, since the beneficiaries have access to a fund for saving and borrowing money, which has allowed them to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic and thus be able to cover their expenses.
On this occasion, we bring you the testimony of one of the participants of our program:
“Hello, my name is Eulogio Condori Idme, I am a member of the ‘Nuevo Amanecer’ Savings Group of the Queñuani Alto community that belongs to the district of Pucará (Puno).
We practice rotating savings with our colleagues from the same community. Our group is made up of neighbors, friends, and some relatives and we meet once a month to contribute a certain amount to the group fund, we decide on the amount at the beginning of the cycle, and we submit the total accumulated of our savings to a draw. The times that I have won the draw, I have been able to buy oat seeds to sow, because I plant oats every year, and then store them in bales and that helps me to feed my cows in times of drought. It is precisely with that intention that I always save in this group, thanks to the savings promoter of the Pro DIA Association and my community colleagues who have encouraged me to save.
Saving in a group has seemed like a good idea to me – especially during the pandemic – because we help each other by pooling our small savings to accumulate and facilitate the use of these funds to one of our group members at each meeting, so that they can acquire something they need and reach the goals they have planned.
We are happy with this way of supporting ourselves financially, without charging any interest rate and without having to go and get a loan from the bank. “
Inauguration of Modular Bridge in Choquehuanca
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, through its executing unit of Provías Nacional, after months of work managed to complete the installation of a high-tonnage modular bridge. This structure will improve land and pedestrian transportation through the highway that connects districts such as Pucará, José Domingo Choquehuanca, Tirapata, among others.
The Choquehuanca Bridge has a length of 109 meters, it has two traffic lanes for cars, and it also has a road for pedestrians, providing greater safety to users and thus replacing the old one-way bridge whose infrastructure was deteriorated.
Last Monday, August 30th, the official inauguration of the bridge was held, with the presence of the main authorities of Provías Nacional as well as local authorities, and the bridge is now open to the service of the entire population.
Third Social Campaign of the PIAS- Lake Titicaca I
The National Program, PIAS, that belongs to the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS) in coordination with local council authorities, Banco de la Nación, the Navy, Ministry of Health, among others, have announced that in the first week of September they will be starting the “Third Social Campaign of PIAS Lake Titicaca I”, an activity in which they will be providing various services such as: health care, payment of pensions, procedures for national identity documents, etc.
This activity will be carried out for 30 days aboard a barge in which they will be navigating and visiting the different communities located in the districts of Huata, Amantani, Capachica, Moho, Conima, Anapia, Unicachi, and Tinicachi that are around the Titicaca Lake.
Progress of COVID-19 Vaccinations in Pucará
Lic. Gisela Linares – staff of the Pucara Health Center, reported updated data on the progress of the vaccination against COVID 19 in the district, being that 1,174 first doses and 336 second doses were distributed in older adults. They expect to complete the remaining vaccinations of older adults in the coming days, for which they are doing mass dissemination work.
Testimonio del Programa de Ahorro – Asociación Pro DIA
Con la crisis sanitaria ocasionada por el COVID-19 que duda cabe que esta ha tenido múltiples efectos a nivel mundial en lo social, económico, educativo, entre otros. En el ámbito rural local, en el que priman las actividades productivas referidas a la agricultura, ganadería, artesanía, etc., estos han visto mermados sus ingresos económicos. Frente a esta emergencia, el Programa de Ahorros de la Asociación Pro DIA ha cobrado protagonismo, ya que los beneficiarios al contar con este fondo de dinero les ha permitido mitigar los efectos negativos y poder cubrir así sus gastos.
En esta oportunidad, les traemos el testimonio de uno de los participantes de nuestro programa:
“Hola, mi nombre es Eulogio Condori Idme, soy integrante del Grupo de Ahorro ‘Nuevo Amanecer’ de esta comunidad de Queñuani Alto que pertenece al distrito de Pucara (Puno).
Nosotros practicamos el ahorro rotativo con nuestros compañeros de la misma comunidad somos vecinos, amigos y algunos familiares, donde ahorramos un cierto monto en cada fecha acordada al inicio del ciclo y el acumulado total de nuestros ahorros sometemos a un sorteo. Las veces que me ha tocado el sorteo, he podido comprarme “semillas de avena” para sembrar, porque yo siembro cada año avena, para luego guardar en pacas y eso me sirve para alimentar a mis vaquitas en tiempo de sequía. Justamente con esa intención siempre ahorro en este grupo, gracias a la promotora de ahorros de la Asociación Pro DIA y mis compañeros de la comunidad quienes me han incentivado para ahorrar.
Ahorrar en grupo me ha parecido muy bueno – especialmente en estos tiempos de pandemia – porque nos ayudamos unos a otros juntando nuestros pequeños ahorros para acumular y facilitar en cada reunión a uno de nuestros miembros del grupo, para que puedan adquirir algo que necesitan o cumplir con su objetivo planeado.
Estamos contentos con esta forma de apoyarnos económicamente, sin cobrarnos ningún tipo de interés y sin necesidad de ir a sacar un préstamo del banco.”
Entrega de Puente Modular Choquehuanca
El Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones, por intermedio de su unidad ejecutora de Provías Nacional, luego de meses de trabajo lograron culminar la instalación de un puente modular de alto tonelaje. Esta estructura permitirá mejorar el transporte terrestre y peatonal a través de la carretera que une los distritos como Pucará, José Domingo Choquehuanca, Tirapata, entre otros.
El Puente Choquehuanca tiene una longitud de 109 metros, es de doble vía ya que cuenta con dos carriles de circulación para automóviles asimismo tiene calzada para el transito de los peatones, brindando mayor seguridad a los usuarios y reemplazando así al antiguo puente de una sola vía y cuya infraestructura se encontraba deteriorada.
El pasado lunes 30 de agosto se hizo la entrega oficial del referido puente, contando con la presencia de las principales autoridades de Provías Nacional así como de la localidad, quedando aperturado al servicio de toda la población.
Tercera Campaña Social de la PIAS- Lake Titicaca I
El Programa Nacional PAIS que pertenece al Ministerio de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social (MIDIS) en coordinación con las autoridades ediles locales, Banco de la Nación, Marina de Guerra, Ministerio de Salud, entre otros, han anunciado que en la primera semana del próximo mes de setiembre se estará dando inicio a la “Tercera Campaña Social de la PIAS Lago Titicaca I”, actividad en la que estarán brindando servicios varios como: atenciones en salud, pago de pensiones, tramites de documentos nacional de identidad, etc.
Esta actividad se realizara por 30 días a bordo de una plataforma itinerante en la que estarán navegando y visitando las distintas comunidades campesinas ubicadas en los distritos de Huata, Amantani, Capachica, Moho, Conima, Anapia, Unicachi, y Tinicachi que se encuentran alrededor del Lago Titicaca.
Avance de Vacunación COVID-19 en Pucará
La Lic. Gisela Linares – personal del Centro de Salud de Pucara, reporto datos actualizados sobre el avance de la vacunación contra el COVID 19 en el distrito, siendo que se colocaron 1174 primeras dosis y 336 segundas dosis en adultos mayores, se espera completar las restantes en los próximos días, para lo cual están haciendo un trabajo de difusión masiva.
